We are delighted to announce that Destin Solutions have been short listed as finalists in Computing’s 2018 Big Data Excellence Awards under the ‘Outstanding Data Management Solution’ award category.
The submission put forward was based on a Revenue Services reporting solution which includes data from business rates, council tax and housing benefit overpayments developed for customers Preston and Lancaster Shared Service (PALSS).
Focussing on the need to have more in-depth data on the businesses and council tax debtors in their area, PALSS wanted a solution that would help them identify how well businesses were trading and that would give them more visibility of their tax base. This was with the aim of more easily pinpointing largest debtors and identifying debt which had fallen through the gaps and had been outstanding for prolonged periods of time. Much of this data already existed but was buried across many different revenues systems, teams and departments and was very difficult to access without a lot of manual intervention and trawling through of data.
As a result of the data management solution implemented by Destin Solutions, PALSS have been able to identify their largest council tax and business rates debtors and have improved collections by targeting resources in the right areas and have cleared out a number of arrears cases enabling staff to focus on current debt.
PALSS now have access to meaningful and useful data at a click of the button which assists with budgeting and forecasting. A case management system has also been developed as part of the solution for those debts referred for legal action. This system gives the appointed legal firm direct access to all the data intelligence the Council has, cutting down on administration and duplication for both parties.
The impact of the technology is far reaching with users spanning multiple teams and departments including; Property Inspectors, Revenues Team Leaders, the Council Tax team, the Business Rates team and Accountants.
Duncan Baxter, Director at Destin Solutions commented “this is the first time we have been recognised and short listed for an award by peers in the prestigious technology community and we are up against some tough competition and big brand names. We are delighted to have made the cut and believe it is testimony to the ground-breaking data analytics solutions we have developed. Our expertise has always focussed on consolidating data from multiple sources and making sense of them in a way that adds value for our customers and drives revenue for them.”
