Following the tremendous financial pressure Local Authorities faced as a result of COVID-19, a number of Councils are now looking to identify new revenue streams to counterbalance the effect. This has become a lot simpler in recent months thanks to new technology which automates the process of finding both domestic and commercial properties in your area which have never been registered on either the rating or council tax banding list.
The technology works by consolidating information from a number of different datasets such as electronic property listings and directories and, using mapping software and cross referencing this against your Councils current rating list or council tax banding list, to identify discrepancies. Presenting the results back in an intuitive online secure portal and available as an annual subscription, quite quickly Councils can see a substantial return on investment, keeping all additional revenue they identify.

Duncan worked for Lancaster City Council for 16 years and held a number of positions within Revenues Services. Since then Duncan has worked as a Consultant and Project Manager for a large private sector software company. As a Founding Director of Destin Solutions, he has been involved with Business Process Re-engineering in Revenues & Benefit services, creation of Electronic Procedure Manuals, software configuration and report writing. He is a member of the Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation (IRRV), is a past president of the Lancashire & Cheshire IRRV Association and has spoken at IRRV Conferences both national and locally.
Peter Haywood IRRV (Tech)

Peter has worked in Revenues and Benefits departments across four councils spanning 28 years, and most recently as Revenues and Benefits Manager at South Ribble Borough Council prior to joining Destin Solutions as an Account Manager. Peter is a past President and an active member of the Lancashire and Cheshire Association of the IRRV, a regular speaker at their events and seminars, he is knowledgeable on current issues affecting local taxation and benefits services.
