Driven by the need to achieve greater insight into council tax debtors, properties and businesses in their area, PALSS have implemented Destin Solutions’ business intelligence and data analytics solution. This was with the goal of increasing the tax base across Preston and Lancaster to maximise collections and revenue generated.
As a result of partnering with Destin Solutions, PALSS have been able to target their largest council tax debt and take a firmer approach to dissolution, bankruptcies and writing off debt. For the first time ever they also have a snapshot of the health, wealth and trading statuses of all businesses in their area. This enables them to identify debt levels, business stability and to predict growth or decline in the local economy which helps shape rates relief programmes.
A key part of the solution also enables them to take a more proactive approach to property inspections by using alerts to flag properties left empty over a certain period of time. It also enables them to chart the progress of property developments over time, getting properties into taxation more quickly.
The impact of the technology is far reaching with over 40 different users spanning Property Inspectors, Revenues Team Leaders, the Council Tax team, the Business Rates team and Accountants.
